At Legend, we use AI to work smarter every day - and we hope our candidates might do the same. We’ve created this document to give clear guidance on where AI can support your application [and where it shouldn’t be used]. We want to make sure the process is fair and focused on you, not your tools.

Here’s how we approach AI in our hiring process:

Not using your words. We want to get to know you. Submitting a CV or cover letter that majority AI generated doesn’t help us to understand you and how you’ll communicate with your team on a normal day. | | Take-Home Tasks | ✅ Yes | You’re welcome to use AI to support your thinking and research. Please include a short note on how you used it. Unless the speifically stated within the task brief. | | | | Live Interviews (e.g. competency-based) | ❌ No | We want to hear directly from you - no AI-generated responses or support during live conversations.

Notetaking - using AI for recording/ note-taking during any stage is not permitted. | Using AI to help you prepare for an interivew. AI can help you to research the competitor market, what questions might be asked and prepare relevant examples for competency based interview questions. | Using AI during an interview or screening call to directly answer questions. Authenticy is essential. If you don’t know the answer - call that out and explain how you’d research/ upskill yourself to answer that question. | | Technical or Presentation Interviews | ⚠️ Yes, with context | If AI tools supported your work (e.g. code, slides, research) - just be open about it when presenting. | Using AI when permitted - reference where AI has been used. We will want to evalute how you’ve created your prompt, verified the information and iterated in the output. | Presenting AI work as wholly your own. |

Our Commitment to You

Your application will always be reviewed by a human, we don’t use AI to auto-reject any candidates to Legend. And we want you to bring your human self to the process. If we have reason to believe that you’ve dishonestly used AI, or used AI tools to misrepresent your work or experience, this would bring your Legend journey to an end.

We want all our candidates to work on a level playing field, so all instances are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Why we care

We’re not anti-AI - far from it. But interviews are about understanding how you think, communicate, and solve problems. AI can help sharpen your ideas, but it can’t replace your experience, instincts, or point of view. That’s what we’re really interested in.
